A leading meat and feed producer from Russia last week sent its first shipment of poultry meat into Angola.

Cherkizovo Group sent the batch of 54 tons – sourced from its Chicken Kingdom poultry farm in the Lipetsk region - from Novorossiysk to Luanda. Earlier this year it received its licence to export poultry products.

To meet market demands in Angola, Cherkizovo produces smaller broilers of 1.1-1.3kg and ships them in frozen form.

"Cherkizovo Group was one of the first Russian companies in its segment to enter export markets,” commented Andrei Terekhin, head of Cherkizovo Group’s export department.

“Export remains a strategic sales channel for the company as it creates additional growth opportunities. The Near East, Middle East and Africa remain our priority and we plan to expand our presence in these markets and beyond.”

The Russian meat producer is already exporting poultry products to countries in the north and east of Africa, and the Middle East.
