Hillshire appoints new retail strategist

Hillshire Brands Company, the US-based meat company that was spun out of Sara Lee’s meat business in June, has appointed a new chief customer officer to manage relationships and develop strategies with its consumer-facing customers.

Sean Connolly, chief executive officer, said Reid was a strong addition to the Hillshire Brands’ team: “He brings extensive leadership experience and a proven track record of achieving solid results by partnering with customers and developing strong organisations. His deep understanding of the food industry and key customer needs, combined with his ability to lead successful teams, will help drive our business.”

Reid previously worked for Schwan Food Company, directing the international consumer brand sales organisation, will be responsible for developing networks with high-profile customers such as Wal-Mart, Kroger and Costco.

Hillshire Brands’ portfolio includes Jimmy Dean, Ball Park, Hillshire Farm, State Fair, Sara Lee frozen bakery, Chef Pierre pies, and artisanal brands Aidells and Gallo Salame.
