Multisorb extends shelf-life for meats

Shelf-life extension options were on display in Atlanta, with specialist supplier Multisorb showcasing a range of its products.

The company used the International Production & Processing Expo to promote its Maplox product, a packaging solution for case-ready meats, which the company claimed extends shelf-life and maintains freshness by reducing oxygen within the bag and tray.

 
The company said a FreshPax CR oxygen scavenger was placed inside a gas-flushed master bag containing the overwrapped meat trays, and the bag was hermetically sealed. The scavenger absorbed any oxygen that permeated the bag and Multisorb said the effect was to extend distribution time and display life.

 
Other products on display included its FreshCard oxygen absorbing cards and FreshPax, its oxygen absorbing packets, which the company said can assist in reducing and even eliminating preservatives in smoked, cured and processed meats, without affecting flavours, colour, smell and quality.
