Rig-A-Lite was at the International Production & Processing Expo in Atlanta to demonstrate the new system, which the company’s Ross Blanford said was able to provide 60,000 hours of light with zero maintenance.
As well as being able to cope with wide variations in temperature, and suitable for blast freezers, Blanford said the system could save costs: “Using the LED lighting means lower energy and, typically, the lighting can save 26% compared with fluorescent systems.”
He pointed out that as the lighting was enclosed and protected, it was also capable of withstanding high-pressure hose-down cleaning within plants.
