A US foodservice supplier has been forced to recall over 300,000lb of meat and poultry products due to possible contamination with the dangerous food poisoning bug listeria.

New Jersey-based Buona Vita, which means the ‘good life’ in Italian, has recalled 324,770lb of various frozen, ready-to-eat products including meatballs, patties and beef and chicken loaves.
The recall was announced on the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which stated that the problem was discovered during routine microbiological testing by FSIS and the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA).

So far, there have been no reports of illness as a result of consumption of the products, but FSIS urged anyone concerned about their health to contact a doctor.
