German-based meat casings company Kalle is to present a number of new value-added sausage casings at IFFA 2016, taking place in Frankfurt from 7-12 May.

Kalle will take the opportunity to display the benefits of its products, highlighting their efficiency and quality.

Kalle sausage casings can help manufacturers differentiate their products from the competition while at the same time increasing efficiency,” said Dr Carsten Heldmann, chief executive of Kalle.

Also, our casings offer genuine benefits when it comes to improving product safety during the production process. The result is an increase in both quality and consumer appeal. Sausage casings are therefore central elements in the production and marketing strategies of sausage manufacturers. They are a key ingredient to the success of our customers.”

Product innovation

The company has revealed an innovation that will reduce production costs by 20%. This is achieved by introducing new additions of value-added casings that eliminate entire production steps by transferring smoke, colour and seasoning directly from the casing onto the filling surface.

Kalle will also launch new additions into the netting market. According to the company, the new products will combine the rustic appearance of closely-knit netting with the added benefits of value-added casing.

A particular area of focus for the company is the new Spice-Kote casing designed for dry sausage, ham and even vegetarian offerings. The Spice-Kote casing allows for a coat of seasoning that can result in a finished surface in a single operation.

Other new Kalle products on display will include a textile casing that offers fresh options in regards to the shape and design of products.
