JBS SA has announced the acquisition of Brazilian specialist chicken processor Agroveneto. The company said the deal was valued at approximately R$128m and was subject to approval by the authorities and the company’s board of directors.

Agroveneto’s Santa Catarina plant has a production capacity of 140,000 birds per day, with over 30 products, including chilled and frozen cuts and breaded products, which are sold domestically and exported to Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

JBS said the acquisition of the poultry processor would “complement” its operations in Brazil’s poultry sector and give it a total production capacity of 1.34 million birds a day.
