Optimism about the prospects for the expansion of US cattle herds is high, according to cattle and beef member organisation CattleFax.

It has said the potential to rebuild and expand herds has not been as strong as it currently is, for the past 20 years.

CattleFax added that cheaper feedstuff prices and robust protein demand were also having positive knock-on effects on the pork and chicken sectors.

The expansion of the livestock sector and the benefits to be felt by the beef industry will be discussed at its Outlook & Strategies 2015 seminar on Tuesday 2 December.

The keynote speaker at the event will be Jan Lambregts, global head of financial markets research for Rabobank International, who will share his thoughts on what will shape the US and global economy next year.

CattleFax will highlight production scenarios and expansion implications, domestic wholesale and retail protein market demand considerations, global supply and demand drivers, strategies to grow profits and manage risk, and forecasts for 2015 prices in the calf, feeder cattle, fed cattle and beef markets.
