Meat processors in Canada are to benefit from LINPAC’s packaging technology after it agreed a deal with Heat Sealing Packaging (HSP), which supplies food materials and equipment in Canada.

LINPAC will now supply meat and poultry processors with its Lintop films, claimed to be thinner than standard laminate plastic and therefore more environmentally-friendly.

Using a thinner plastic sheet makes packaging cheaper for processors without compromising the functionality of the product – so elements like anti-fog properties, shelf-life and seal strength remain efficient, said the firm.

What sets LINPAC’s films apart from others on the market, and therefore more advanced than standard laminated films, is the way they have been designed, claimed the company. “They have been down-gauged – essentially made thinner – without losing any of their functionality or performance”, explained Jo Mead from PHD Marketing & Strategy.

Speaking about the deal and what it means for Canadian meat processors, Daniel Strickland, market development manager at LINPAC, said: “By partnering with HSP, the Canadian market can now access some of the most technologically advanced films for food packaging.

“LINPAC has invested significantly to produce a variety of film ranges that meet the needs of packers and retailers in terms of food safety and hygiene, cost, presentation and carbon footprint.”

Strickland added: “HSP has a well-established reputation for delivering world-class solutions to its customers, making them an ideal company for LINPAC to partner with when entering a market for the first time. Indeed, we are already seeing success with some key packers in Canada so our decision to work with HSP is paying off.”

HSP vice-president Dan Margorian commented: “Our partnership with LINPAC enables us to offer our customers a wider choice of film solutions, ensuring we are able to meet their requirements. We are immensely proud to be able to bring LINPAC technology to our customers in Canada and believe this is the start of a long, successful collaboration.”
