US packaging company CSP Technologies plans to expand in the food industry through a deal to take over the Atlanta-based business Maxwell Chase Technologies.

CSP Technologies describes itself as the “global leader in advanced packaging solutions​” and said its intended acquisition of Maxwell Chase Technologies would boost its ability to deliver absorbent and non-absorbent packaging solutions – a specialism of Maxwell’s.

The company has not confirmed how much the acquisition is likely to cost, nor when the takeover will be complete.

Maxwell’s packaging solutions, developed over its 22-year history, has helped to improve shelf-life of meat products through its control of moisture. This ability is apparently what caught the interest of CSP Technologies. But the Atlanta-based company also makes a range of processing equipment, such as slicers, tray sealers and pouch fillers.

‘Perfect fit’

On the takeover by the CSP, the partnership of the two companies seemed a no-brainer to Maxwell because of CSP’s emphasis on quality and innovation.
