Handtmann launches groundbreaking vacuum filler

Meat portioning machinery designer Handtmann has launched a “highly innovative” vacuum filler with an improved hygienic design feature that helps protect processors against food safety hazards.

Handtmann’s VF 800​ was officially launched at the Frankfurt trade show IFFA, which ran from 7 to 12 May 2016. Among the many unique selling points the machine boasts over its older sibling – the VF 600 – is a patented scalability technology. This enables meat processors to secure an incredibly exact filling capacity which can, if required, be altered for specific client requirements.

Handtmann’s marketing assistant, Brigitte Brehm, said the machine represented a “technological quantum leap [forward]​” as it has more than 100 new innovative developments. These include a vane cell feed system that helps improve weight accuracy, and an automated product quality inspection system that monitors the pressure and temperature in the feed system to reduce product wastage.

‘Timeless’

Its “modern but timeless design reflects the forward-looking machine concept​”, explained Brehm. “Flexibility and high performance for every requirement are provided, as an unbeatably long service life and extremely robust design ensure long-term stable portioning accuracy, thanks to reduced wear."

 ​Handtmann did not predict the new model would immediately render its previous vacuum filler redundant, and expected to continue manufacturing the VF 600 for a few more years. It did, however, hope its new machine would pave the way for expansion in the meat-free and baked goods markets, as well as strengthen its position in the traditional meat processing sphere.

The vacuum filler is the first launch from Handtmann in over six years. The lengthy wait between machines derives from the fact the business used all the feedback from customers and technical specialists to inform its design of the new machine.
