US meat company Naked Bacon is working with Label Insight to offer SmartLabel digital labelling on its products to help consumers learn more about the food they eat.

The company has launched a range of gluten-free bacon products and using Label Insight’s data-driven intelligence software, users can access detailed online information about the food they eat.

We’ve seen a seismic shift in terms of what consumers expect from food companies in terms of product information,” said Ronak Sheth, chief customer officer, Label Insight. “We’re excited to help Naked Bacon provide more transparency about their food to gain customer trust and loyalty, ultimately leading to a larger customer base.”

SmartLabel provides consumers with a wealth of product information including the source of ingredients, how the manufacturing process works and what certificates the company and product have earned, as well as any food safety issues.

Supply chain transparency

Consumers appreciate that our bacon is made in small batches with all-natural ingredients,” said John Kreilich, president and founder of Naked Bacon. He added that the partnership with Label Insight would provide “complete transparency” as well as helping the business distinguish itself from competitors by “offering consumers a look into our products beyond the physical package label”.

Naked Bacon is a Missouri-based business that products bacon free from nitrates or phosphates. The business uses a recipe that dates back to the 1800s and each batch of bacon is dry cured and has no added water.

SmartLabel was developed by the Trading Partner Alliance to help consumers gain more knowledge about the food they eat.
