Alabama packaging solutions firm CSP Technologies has backed its Pharmapuck scavenging device to “set a new industry standard” to fix fetid odours and increase the shelf-life of packaged food products.

The Auburn, US, company has launched its Pharmapuck scavenging device – a small, pill-like product that meat manufactures can use to extend the shelf-life of products in food containers. The scavenging device can be integrated into virtually any food range by CSP.

Designed to protect products from as much moisture and oxygen absorption as possible, the new product can be integrated into bottle tops or dropped into food containers. It helps to counteract the build-up of organic compounds in packaging, preventing foul odours and a decline in product shelf-life and keeping red meat from going an unappealing shade of brown.

The Pharmapuck scavenging device has the potential to set a new industry standard by providing manufacturers a foolproof solution to protect their products and prevent misuse by consumers,” the company said in a statement.

CSP Technologies claims to be a global leader in producing packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical, industrial and food and nutrition industries.

Pharmapuck’s five key features

  • Durability – it promises enhanced cleaning and sterilisation
  • Product stability – a built-in drying agent that reduces the risk of spillage
  • Consistent customer experience – controls on odour and aroma
  • Flexibility – integrated into any most containers
  • Brand identity – colour customisation, laser or ink printing for improved visual branding
