Western Meat Packers Group (WMPG) has hired six factory-level managers as the Australian company ramps up an efficiency-boosting drive across its slaughterhouse and two factories.

Among the talent acquisitions is former JBS operations executive Jason Spencer, now general manager, who will oversee meat processing and deboning at WMPG’s flagship Osborne Park factory.

My meat management mantra has always been if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it. So I intend to refine costs and lift yields, while also introducing advanced training systems and new technologies that will ensure Western Meat Packers continues to lead the way in Western Australia,” Spencer said in a statement.

We have our elite brands and it’s my job to ensure we always deliver on our promise of superior product quality and integrity.”

‘Expanding business’

The other appointments are Lui Rinaldi, special projects manager; Ettiene Snyman, boning room manager; Rinda Ho, quality assurance manager; Bill Wong, information technology manager; and Jim McGuckin, maintenance manager.

According to WMPG, Rinaldi is one of western Australia’s “most respected” meat processing professionals.

The business is wholly-owned by Rod Russell, who founded it in 1983 with his wife, Shana.

In the last 34 years the business has grown to a multi-million-dollar turnover business, employing around 360 people at its Osborne Park processing headquarters, its Margaret River abattoir and its Bibra Lake value-adding facility.

Although we now send all beef, typically sides and quarters, overnight to WMPG’s Osborne Park boning and packing facility to ensure rapid turnaround from paddock to plate, we’re moving towards also boning and packing at our Margaret River plant to optimise expanding business opportunities in Asia in particular, while retaining Osborne Park,” said CEO Andrew Fuda.
