Named Multivac Bulgaria Production Ltd, the plant is 20,000 sq m and is located in the industrial area of Bozhurishte. The facility will feature some of the latest production technology, as well as a warehouse, logistics centre, training centre and an administration building.
The launch was celebrated with an opening ceremony that included a host of high-profile names in the Bulgarian community such as Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, the minister of economy of Bulgaria, Emil Karanikolov and Mayor of Bozhurishte Gerogi Dimov.
The construction of the plant began two and half years ago and has cost around €18.8m in total. The facility will also create more than 150 jobs in the area.
“Working in three shifts at this site, qualified specialists will produce machine parts and assemblies that meet the Multivac quality standard,” said Multivac group CEO Hans-Joachim Boekstegers. “We are using modern turning and milling machines just as we also use at our headquarters in Germany. Incidentally, just a few weeks after commissioning, we are already utilising our full capacity.”
Multivac’s Bulgarian plant will be the eleventh production site across the world in countries such as the USA, Brazil and Japan.
The plant’s managing director Ivaylo Dimitrov added that its goal is to be one of the modern productions sites with the group and to guarantee the high Multivac standards through its specialists.
