Growth prospects for US plant-based meat manufacturer Field Roast Grain Meat has led to an agreement with distribution company Essen Foods to expand its product range across the Australasian market.

The vegetarian and vegan food manufacturer, based in Seattle, said Essen Foods was selected as its distribution partner due to its vision and vast experience as an importer and distributor of US-made food products.

Essen Foods will use its distribution channels to stock Field Roast products, including the brand’s new frozen set, across independently-owned Australian retailers such as Vegan Pantry, Supabarn and The Leo’s Fine Food & Wine Network.

Field Roast products, such as plant-based sausages, deli slices and burgers, can be found in thousands of retail stores and on more than 500 restaurant menus across the US.

Essen Foods will also provide Field Roast with regional advertising, in-store marketing support and trade show presence.

The deal is part of Field Roast Grain Meat’s strategy to support its continued growth in the plant-based sector after the brand experienced an 81% increase of year-on-year sales during the first quarter.

This is a strategic decision we’ve made to create efficiencies supporting our continued growth and we look forward to continuing this momentum internationally with the support of Essen Foods,” said president of Field Roast Dan Curtin.

Essen Foods is a Melbourne, Australia-based distribution company, specialising in ambient, chilled and frozen food items. The firm said it aimed to achieve full market penetration of Field Roast’s product range throughout Australia.
