Packaging supplier for the meat sector Sealed Air has revealed it will make all of its packaging solutions 100% recyclable and usable by 2025.

As part of its commitment, Sealed Air will collaborate with global partners to ensure it uses recyclable materials and expand its reuse models for packaging.

Sealed Air CEO Ted Doheny said it was the company’s responsibility to build a waste-free future, keep oceans clean and leave a lighter carbon footprint.

At Sealed Air, we strive to leave our world, environment and communities better than we found them by leading innovative efforts to create differentiated, sustainable solutions,” said Doheny.

In other efforts to improve plastic waste, Sealed Air became a participant of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy initiative and recently became a signatory to the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment.

We are committed to developing packaging solutions that maximise product protection, resource efficiency and material circularity,” said Ron Cotterman, Sealed Air’s vice president for corporate innovation and sustainability.

Plastic packaging materials need to be ideally suited to meet the essential requirements of today’s complex supply chains that demand properties such as sealability, toughness and clarity. By focusing on product design, renewable and recycled materials and recovery processes, we will drive innovations that enhance performance and efficiency.”

The packaging provider said it would continue investing in expanding its portfolio of sustainable solutions, such as food packaging made from plant-based starch and recovered materials.

Sealed Air recently acquired AFP, which specialises in fabricated foam, corrugated and moulded pulp and wood packaging solutions.
