Growing demand from international markets for Brazilian beef has resulted in soaring export figures throughout November, according to data from the Agribusiness Trade Balance.

Fresh beef exports reached US$521.7m, with over 130,570 tonnes traded in November. Growth in the beef sector saw Brazil’s total agribusiness exports exceed $100bn between December 2017 and November 2018.

Chicken meat also fared well throughout November, with sales of US$518.2m and 314,240 tonnes shipped into international markets. Foreign sales of pork also amounted to US$103.7m, while sales of turkey meat came to US$6.9m.

Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply’s (MAPA) secretary for international relations Odilson Ribeiro E Silva paid tribute to the ministry and the agribusiness sector for its successful export figures last month.

Overcoming the 100 billion dollar mark of Brazilian agribusiness annual exports reflects both the good management of the Ministry of Agriculture and the excellence of our productive sector,” said E Silva.

Several major international meat markets opened up opportunities for Brazilian meat throughout November.

Saudi Arabia, Brazil’s largest destination for meat, agreed an import deal for its bovine and genetic materials.

Mexico also granted export licences to 26 new Brazilian establishments for poultry meat, while Russia also resumed imports of its pork and beef following its closure in December 2017.
