Turkey-based poultry processor Şenpiliç has revealed a partnership with equipment manufacturer Marel Poultry to control its packing, batching and labelling operations at its processing plant.

Şenpiliç said its Kadirli-based plant required “complex logistics” in order for its operations to run smoothly and has installed several pieces of equipment from Marel Poultry, which will be controlled by Innova software.

Nine Marel-branded weigh price labellers will be used to pack items such as chicken livers, as well as two Smartline Graders to cut up chicken pieces, such as drumsticks and bone-in thighs for batching.

Once the items have been packed and batched, they will be placed in a Marel BoxGrader, which will be responsible for grading, sorting and diverting of boxes. Innova grading software allocates 8kg to 12kg boxes to a predefined location.

A Şenpiliç statement said: “The quantity and variation of products Şenpiliç has to dispatch at the end of the process line is quite extensive. To keep a clear overview of all these product flows in our plant, plant management needed professional support from a supplier who knows what they ask for. Marel is such a partner.

Şenpiliç is very pleased with the solutions Marel offered and particularly with the way Innova software keeps control of everything. It connects every step of the packing process and ensures precise order fulfilment.”

Marel said Innova Food Processing Software enables processors to maximise yield and throughput, conform to quality standards and ensure food safety, with traceability built into every process step. The software is continuously developed to fit changing market needs and requirements.

Şenpiliç claims to be the Turkey’s biggest chicken meat producer with a 16% market share and 320.000 tons/year production quantity.

The company invested around 400m Turkish Lira ($74.7m) into its Kadirli-based processing plant, which has a capacity of 450,000 pieces of chicken per day.
