Poultry processor Cargill has unveiled Jon Nash as the head of its North American protein business.

Nash began his career at Cargill in 1998 and, most recently, was president of Cargill Protein’s foodservice business. He also served as vice president of operations and was general manager and controller of the company’s Fresno, California beef facility. He will report to Brian Sikes, who was recently appointed to the executive team as leader of the company’s global protein and salt businesses.

“Cargill is innovating the future of protein,” said corporate senior vice president Brian Sikes. “Jon is a results-driven leader. He puts people first, embraces technology and is a forward-thinker – his collaborative approach will help continue our growth.”

Nash will begin his new role on 1 March 2019, and he will be based in Cargill Protein’s new headquarters in Wichita, Kansas which opened in December.

Meanwhile, Misty High will assume the Cargill Protein foodservice business lead role. Currently, she serves as vice president and key customer leader at Cargill Protein. High joined Cargill in 2005 after starting her career with an integrated advertising and marketing agency. She is originally from Wichita, Kansas and will also be based at the new headquarters.

Last week, Cargill reported that its second-quarter revenue dropped 4% due to an “uncertain environment” caused by political instability in Central America and market challenges in south-east Asia. The business’ European division also recently completed its acquisition of value-offering Konspol in Poland.
