US-based frozen foods manufacturer Bellisio Foods has recalled 173,376 lb of its boneless pork rib patties across retail stores nationwide, due to concerns that they may be contain glass or plastic.

Bellisio Foods revealed that the problem was discovered when it received complaints of glass or hard plastic material in its rib-shaped patties from consumers.

The manufacturer notified the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service about the complaints, which issued the recall.

The frozen, not ready-to-eat 14oz boneless pork rib patties meal, served with BBQ sauce and mashed potato, were produced on various dates from 7 December 2018 to 15 February 2019 and the products affected have a ‘best before’ date of 12/07/2019.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Services said there had been no confirmed reports of reactions or injuries due to the consumption of the product. It urged anyone who had purchased the product to dispose of it or to return it to its place of purchase.

Anybody with questions about the recall has been advised to contact the Food Safety and Inspection Service.
