The competition, which awards the best steaks in the world, has received entries from 22 countries, with the Czech Republic among the new entrants to the event.
World Steak Challenge 2019 takes place in Dublin at Fire Restaurant and Lounge, marking the first time the event has been held outside the UK.
GlobalMeatNews deputy editor Aidan Fortune said: “Every year the World Steak Challenge gets bigger, but this year has blown us away. We knew that taking the event to Dublin might have been a risk, but it has certainly been worth it and producers really have got behind this year’s World Steak Challenge. I know the judging panel will have their work cut out to decide this year’s winner.”
The World Steak Challenge judging will take place behind closed doors on 9 July at the Fire Restaurant in Dublin and, following a Bord Bía study tour to showcase the best of Irish food, the winners will be announced at a reception in the world-famous Round Room at the Mansion House.
The categories for this year’s World Steak Challenge are World’s Best Sirloin, World’s Best Rib Eye and World’s Best Fillet. There are also awards for the Best Grain-fed and Best Grass-fed steaks, as well as the overall winner.
World Steak Challenge 2019 is kindly supported by official host partner Bord Bía, judging host Fire Restaurant and official supplier Synergy Grill Technology.
