Processor ABP has announced the appointment of Colm Dore as the new managing director of its pet food division, C&D Foods.

Dore has been employed by ABP in Ireland since 2004 and has held a number of roles in the fresh meat division most recently as a plant general manager.

He is a chartered accountant and before joining ABP, worked as group financial controller for Qualceram Shires PLC, and trained and qualified with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

C&D Foods is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of private label pet food with nine manufacturing facilities in seven countries employing over 1,500 people. The company manufactures a complete range of products in pouch, alutray, canned and dry format pet foods.

ABP recently announced plans to extend its range of online products for Chinese retailer JD.com from three to 10.

Mark Goodman, managing director of ABP’s international division, said: “The time is now right for us to extend our range further to include another seven products. These have been developed following six months of close and successful collaboration between our new product development team here in Ireland, our colleagues in China and our distribution partner Hopewise.”

In February, the business entered the plant-based market in the UK with the launch of the Equals range into Asda stores.
