African Swine Fever is cutting a path of devastation around the world, with Asia particularly affected by the epidemic.

In the past year, the disease has been confirmed in more than 20 countries around the globe , most recently South Korea - with some analysts predicting that the Chinese pig herd in particular could be reduced by as much as 50%. Although harmless to humans, the impact on a pig herd is devastating and requires an immediate cull.

Work has been taking place on a vaccine but so far there has been little progress made and markets including the UK and US are getting more and more concerned about ASF hitting their shores.

To help inform about the current threat level of ASF and the impact on a market, Global Meat News is hosting a free webinar with leading experts and analysts. On 29 October, we will be discussing the current state of play around the world, the impact on pig prices and what work is being done to limit the damage of ASF.

African Swine Fever: A Global Epidemic will include Zoe Davies, the chief executive of the UK’s National Pig Association; Dr Scott Dee, director of research at Pipestone Veterinary Services; Rupert Claxton, meat director at GIRA and Brett Stuart, president of Global AgriTrends.
