The UK’s place in the international meat community will be the focus of the upcoming Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) Global Britain conference.

Taking place in London on 22 October, the event will be embracing digital by being livestreamed to viewers unable to make it in person.

This year’s event will include speakers and experts on North America, Europe and East Asia trade dynamics, as well as a look at future opportunities for the UK agricultural sector.

Speakers lined for the conference include the director general for trade policy at the Department of Global Affairs (Canada) Doug Forsyth and Joe Healey, president of the Irish Farmers’ Association. Oliver McIntyre, the agricultural strategy director of Barclays Bank will take part in a panel discussion alongside AHDB experts.

There will also be separate crop and livestock sessions that feature SASA’s head of potato branch Triona Davey and Joel Haggard, the senior vice president of the US Meat Export Federation.

The speakers will be sharing insight on what we could be facing in the medium term and answering your questions live during the event.

Viewers will have the chance to hear about UK trade discussions and the short and long-term impacts of Brexit, as well as the export opportunities and recent market access wins.

AHDB international market development director Dr Phil Hadley said this year’s export conference will address many concerns facing industry today.

“With Brexit just weeks away, we have made the decision to livestream our export conference for the first time. It promises to be a very insightful and timely conference and we hope as many people as possible join the livestream to take full advantage of this opportunity to hear from our impressive line-up of cross-sector and international experts.”
