Can a grass-fed steak win this year's World Steak Challenge?
With grass-fed steaks growing in popularity, could this be the year that the grass-fed steak sizzles its way to its first overall winner accolade at the World Steak Challenge competition?

Since World Steak Challenge launched four years ago, a grass-fed steak entrant is yet to get their hands on the coveted World’s Best Steak title.

Last year’s Best Grass-Fed Steak was awarded to Martin’s Meat of England, a butchery based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Eight out of 17 Gold medals awarded in last year’s competition were for grass-fed steaks.

Among the overall winners, since the launch of the competition, include a Sirloin Grain-fed Limousin Cross aged 29 months and matured for 14 days, submitted by ABP Poland last year, and Australian firm Jack’s Creek winning back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2015 for its Wagyu grain-fed steak F2+ 75% aged for 30 months.

This year’s competition will be held at the Magic Roundabout venue in London on the 4 July 2018, seeking steak producers, including cattle farmers, ranchers and beef wholesalers, from around the world to compete for the respected title in the international meat industry.

Each steak will be given a score by our elite panel of judges, including leading Dutch butcher Gertjan Kiers and The International Meat Trade Association policy director Katie Doherty, and the product that excels to the top standards will be awarded a Gold accolade.

Those steaks that achieve the Gold status will be placed into the next round of judging, the BBQ round, where chefs and experts will cook the steaks for an agreed time and specification.

The steak which impresses the judges the most will be crowned the World’s Best Steak producer.
