The chief executive of Danish Crown Pork (DC Pork) is to part company with the business after two years in the role.

Danish Crown confirmed the departure of Jesper Friis, with overall management responsibility to be transferred to group CEO Kjeld Johannesen.

The firm admitted that two years was not a long time, and that it was "regrettable that we have arrived at this decision".

Johannesen explained: "Jesper Friis has introduced new ways of thinking to the group, and we had hoped that, with time, we would come to see eye to eye with respect to the complex management of the many different cultures in DC Pork, but we do not feel that this has happened."

He added that the reason for his departure had nothing to do with the financial results he had achieved, or any particular event.

"We will now look at the situation together with a number of highly qualified CEOs to decide the next step – both in the short and the long term," said Johannesen.

Friis stepped down from the role on 1 February.
