Seara Alimentos and BRF are among the 25 Brazilian firms who will begin chicken meat trading with Saudi Arabia, according to Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA).

The health service of Saudi Arabia approved the companies as exporters of chicken meat to the Asian country.

Saudi Arabian officials conducted a mission to Brazil in October 2018, where they visited refrigeration companies, farms and food factories across the South American country.

Other Brazilian establishments approved for chicken meat trade to Saudi Arabia are Vibra Agroindustrial, Frigorifico Nova Araça and Zanchetta Alimentos.

The 25 firms accounted for 63% of Brazilian chicken meat export volumes last year.

According to Brazil’s Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), Saudi Arabia is the largest importing nation for Brazilian chicken meat and has been extending its ties with the country for other meat products over the past year.

In 2018, MAPA finalised an export deal with Saudi Arabia for live cattle, while later on, Saudi Arabia agreed an import deal with Brazil for its bovine and poultry genetic materials.
