Before meat processors around the world take in K+G Wetter’s advanced bowl cutters and mixers, skilled engineers smooth all K+G Wetter’s machines to give them a glossy surface.
This is not just for aesthetic purposes: the exceptionally smooth surface means it is difficult for food particles to stick to the machine, so that food safety issues should, in theory, be reduced.
With this in mind, K+G Wetter has said it has introduced “clever details” to its grinding booths to help its engineers produce precise surface finishing. All grinding booths have been equipped with specially developed LED lighting systems. This increased illumination ensures optimum polishing and “thus sets the highest standards in terms of cleanliness”, said the company.
‘Easier to clean’
K+G Wetter has also installed sound-absorbing walls in the grinding booths to reduce noise levels.
“Thanks to the improved cabins, we can produce the extremely high-quality and smooth surfaces that characterise our machines even more efficiently,” said Volker Schlosser, sales manager at K+G Wetter.
“Because of the homogeneous surfaces, our customers find it much easier to clean the machines,” he added.
Working conditions have been improved too, with the installation of new ventilation systems. These ensure better air quality for staff, according to K+G Wetter. Working conditions have not be a cause for concern at the plant, a K+G Wetter spokesperson said.
K+G Wetter could not provide details on the cost of upgrading its grinding booths at the time of writing.
